A successful programme of pre-school music education,
which I've been running since 2003. Local classes are held in Ashurst.
Class sizes are small to
ensure maximum benefit for each child. Teachers are trained
to deliver a curriculum which matches the child's development. The main aim is to learn about music and develop
social skills, whilst having fun!
Research proves that from the very
beginning, even before birth, integration of music into a child's daily life
can have an astounding effect.
All children are musical. During
their nine months in the womb, babies are surrounded by rhythmic noises and
movements. Babies are born naturally "tuned in" to the pitch, volume
and rhythm of music. No wonder then that singing to and rocking a baby
has a soothing effect.
Learning music can help a child kick a
ball and tie his shoelaces! It's true .... many of the skills acquired
through music education are hugely beneficial in other areas of life. Playing instruments and moving to music
helps develop a child's motor skills; hand-eye coordination and even her
sense of balance.
Musical development is very closely
linked to language development. Studies have shown that singing with a
child can help him acquire language and can speed up the process of learning
to speak.
Weekly music classes are also a great way
of developing social skills. Sharing and turn-taking are encouraged,
and there is plenty of opportunity for interaction with peers.
